Here are some general support topics to help you get set-up with your account at Fasturtle. If you do not find what you are looking for, or if you require further assistance, please submit a support ticket via our Support Ticket System and one of out technical support team members will be glad to assist you.

Domain Name Server/ Hosting Changes

If you are transfering from another hosting company to our hosting services, and are not a new registration, the domain name needs to be transferred our hosting servers:

Primary Server Hostname.........: NS.FASTURTLE.COM
Primary Server Netaddress.......: 65.108.111.95 (may not be required)
Secondary Server Hostname.......: NS2.FASTURTLE.COM
Secondary Server Netaddress.....: 65.108.80.56 (may not be required)

NS.FASTURTLE.COM AND NS2.FASTURTLE.COM are the name servers to be used.

Please contact the organization where you registered your domain and update this information. This is critical! Otherwise, you will only be able to access your site via the above IP address. This update will take a few days to complete. If you registered your domain name with us we will take care of this. Once your domain DNS record is updated to reflect that we are your new hosting provider, our automated system will pickup the changes and your domain will be activated on our servers.

File Transfer Protocol/FTP

When uploading your files via FTP make sure that you upload htm and graphics files into the yourdomainname-www directory on the server so your pages will show up on your website. The main page should be named index.html or index.htm If you call yours index.htm then you need to delete the index.html (under construction page) of the server because your browser will default to the index.html

You may upload files via the file manager in your control panel. Some designing programs have FTP build in. If you use an FTP program then you need to set this to:
hostname/address: IP address (this with new domains and transfers) or
hostname/address: domain name (only if domain name is live on our servers)
Host Type: automatic detect

user ID: your user id
password: your password
IP Address: your ip address

If you have misplaced this information please submit a Support Ticket to have that information reset for you.

Email Set-Up/ Change

Your email can be configured via your control panel "mail manager" There are 3 main options and you may combine them. The first options is a POP account where you need to retrieve the email messages from the server with a mail program such as Outlook, Netscape, Eudora etc.

You need to configure your mail program to:
user name: info (this is the account you created like info@yourdomainname.com if your email address is yourname@yourdomain.com, then you password would be "yourname")

Password: (this is the password of the email account "info" or "yourname" that you created)

The incoming mail needs to be set at: mail.yourdomainname.com

The outgoing mail needs to be set to the mail server from your local internet/dial-up provider or yourdomainname.com: Example: smtp.west.cox.net or yourdomainname.com Please contact your local dial up provider to get this setting. Cox Internet requires you to use their outgoing mail server.

Your email will not work until your name shows in the browser. This will take a few days with new and transferring domains.

Please look in your domain control panel for information on how to access our web based email. http://www.yourdomainname.com/up To use our web mail your domain needs to be on our servers and you will need to create an account(s) via the mail manager in your domain control panel.

Please also view Email Set-up for specific instructions on setting up email accounts on specific Email Programs, i.e. Outlook 2003

Web Site Statistics

Your site statistics may be seen via your site statistics button in your control panel or via http://ipaddress/stats/ or http://yourdomainname.com/stats/ This is password protected!

Clients often ask about "hits." What really matters are "sessions." These are unique visitors to your site. After your site has been up for a while useful information can be gathered. We suggest you use this tool instead of counters on your page. Resist the urge to put counters on your pages they really do not mean a lot any more. Professional sites do not have counters!

If you are using MS Frontpage you need to install the FrontPage extensions via the MS Frontpage control panel button before you upload. First verify via the same button that the extensions have been installed. When this has been done you may publish to your site. With new accounts use your IP address and/or if your domain is already on our servers you may use http://yourdomainname.com/
